St. Petersburg University of State Fire Service of The Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense is one of the oldest civil defense University in Europe. Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters - higher education establishment, implementing the program of higher education, as well as postgraduate education programs for the training of scientific, technical and pedagogical staff (adjunctive). Institute of Continuing Professional Education (The University) provides retraining and skills development for more than 30 categories of rescuers in Russia. Today the University is a higher education institution under federal control, having the status of legal entity and implementing professional education programs of higher, secondary, postgraduate and further education. The main activity of the university is to train specialists in the areas of - ‘life safety’, moreover, provided training and other specialties in demand in the EMERCOM of Russian. They are specialists in the field of legislation and legal regulation of the EMERCOM of Russia, the psychology of risk and emergency situations, budget accounting and audit organizations in Emergency, fire investigators and technical experts.
