Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences (Kemi-Tornio UAS) takes pride in training entrepreneurially spirited, highly skilled people, who understand the conditions and opportunities of the North.The degree programmes are designed to meet the changing requirements and development needs of the world of work, having a pronounced professional emphasis, and qualifying graduates for various expert duties. The UAS also conducts applied research, development and innovation activities that serve and benefit the region through creating competitive advantage for companies and other organisations, and developing better practices and processes. The integration of education, RDI and working life aims to promote the regional development, supports the study process and develops and expands the knowledge base of the UAS. Internationalisation is integrated in all of operations. The competence strategy is based on four fields of expertise: Industry, Wellbeing, Experiences and Culture, and Business and Entrepreneurship. Kemi-Tornio UAS passed the FINHEEC quality system audit in the year 2010 and received the audit certificate. The audit is repeated every six years. Kemi-Tornio UAS and Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences will merge on 1 January 2014 to form Lapland University of Applied Sciences.
